Eat Cookies for a Cause to Support the Upper Valley Haven: King Arthur Flour and Wilder Center Team up for the “Wild Cookie Extravaganza”
King Arthur Flour and Wilder Center are teaming up to raise funds for the Upper Valley Haven through a cookie baking competition. On Sunday, April 1 the public is invited to the “Wild Cookie Extravaganza” where twenty bakers from all over the Upper Valley vie for the grand prize. The event takes place at Wilder Center, 2087 Hartford Ave, Wilder, VT, and is open to the public from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“There is something in this event for everyone,” says Julie Christopher, King Arthur Flour National Outreach Program Manager. “Contestants get a chance to win a fantastic prize and the ultimate bragging rights, participants get a chance to sample delicious cookies and vote for the People’s Choice winner, and the Upper Valley Haven gets a financial boost.”
For a $5 donation the attendees choose 6 cookies and vote for their favorite; children 10 and under enter free and will receive 2 cookies. The People’s Choice Award is a $100 gift card for the Baker’s Store in Norwich. The runner-up receives a $50 gift card. The winner of the King Arthur Flour Award receives a $150 gift card. Vermont Coffee Company and McNamara Dairy have donated coffee and milk for the event. King Arthur Flour, Cabot Creamery, Domino Sugar, and Pete and Gerry’s Organic Eggs all donated product for the bakers.
All proceeds will go to the Upper Valley Haven, a non-profit organization providing emergency shelter, food, clothing, and educational programming to those in need.
